In this Webinar Dr McBride will speak on the key issues and insights on transition and post service life for New Zealand service members, veterans and families and associated matters.

The one hour presentation will be followed by a interactive Q&A session where participants will be able to ask Dr McBride questions about points raised in his presentation or current issues on transition related to their work.

ABOUT THE PRESENTER

Assoc. Prof. David McBride

Dr David McBride is an occupational physician and Associate Professor in Occupational and Environmental Medicine at the University of Otago, Dunedin School of Medicine.

He trained in occupational epidemiology at the Institute of Occupational Health at the University of Birmingham

David teaches his speciality at a post graduate level, and to undergraduate medical students. His clinical interests lie in occupational medicine, and of course military and veteran’s health.

He has recently completed a longitudinal study of New Zealand ‘contemporary’ veterans examining the relationship between post-traumatic stress injury, health, wellbeing and multi-system illness.

David has been a Reservist since the age of 18, seeing active service in the Police in Northern Ireland, and deployment to East Timor and Afghanistan with the New Zealand Defence Force.

This series uses real time education and information sharing webinars presented by International Thought Leaders and Researchers from New Zealand allied countries including Canada, United States, the United Kingdom and Australia.

It has been developed by Not For Profit ASCN (New Zealand) in collaboration with Veterans Affairs New Zealand, the NZ Defence Force and the University of Otago. Robert Lippiatt from ASCN (NZ) is the chair of the series. He has had significant international experience chairing and facilitating Defence and Veterans forms

Each Webinar covers the key issues and insights on Military Veteran Transition and post service life gained through research and other ongoing work with military members, veterans and their families in the relevant country.
